DESCRIPTION:Presented by Crete Creative Art Gallery and School, this three
 -part oil painting workshop is designed for artists who have some prior pa
 inting experience and are ready to build on their skills in a supportive, 
 guided setting. Over the course of three sessions, participants will crea
 te a 16x20 painting of a tricolored heron while being introduced to a laye
 red approach for developing depth, atmosphere, and form. We will begin by
  establishing a tonal ground and using a simplified subtractive method to 
 block in the image. In the second session, students will be introduced to 
 oil glazing techniques to build color and richness. The final session will
  focus on opaque application, refining key areas, and bringing the paintin
 g to completion.All materials will be provided. Please wear clothes you do
 n't mind being permanently stained.
