Civics University is a series of six sessions to give residents the opportunity to meet their local government and taxing body leaders, understand what each entity does, and learn how these organizations work together to serve the community.
Each week, a different taxing body will present on these topics:
- Village of Crete—Village services, local ordinances, infrastructure, and community initiatives.
- Crete Township—Township services, road maintenance, general assistance, and senior programs.
- Crete Park District—Parks, recreation programs, special events, and community spaces.
- Crete Public Library District—Library services, programming, technology access, and community resources.
- Crete Monee School District 201-U—Educational programs, student support services, and community partnerships.
Format of Each Class
- Introduction—Overview of the taxing body's role and responsibilities
- Services Provided—Programs, events, and resources available to residents
- How to Get Involved—Ways to volunteer, attend meetings, or share input
- Q&A Session—Open floor for residents to ask questions directly to leaders
